Come On In

There is a lot of installation going on inside of Given House these days. All of the floor tile and hardwood are installed, as are all but two cabinet pieces.

The wood is reclaimed, which I love, but it’s also engineered, so it is very practical. I have stated since I started this project, I want this to be a very livable house. Perfection is not my goal. I’m aiming for a “fret free” home!

The master bathroom floor is a marble herringbone. We have a zero entry shower, so this is also the shower floor.

This is the troublemaker in the house! Haha If I had known we would not be able to do the concrete trough sink early on in the framing stage, I would have bumped this space into the adjoining bedroom. Even 12” would have made a big difference in this tiny bathroom. However, a huge positive - the tile is perfection. (All of my tile is from Q-Tile in Grayton Beach.)

I always knew I would want white, inset cabinets for my kitchen wall. I did, however, have a harder time deciding if I wanted my island to also be white. As you can see below, I chose to stain white oak gray. I partly decided this because I love seeing the wood grain and also, the island is likely to get scuff marks from folks sitting in the bar stools and they will show up less on the gray as opposed to the white. I love my knobs and pulls from Anthropologie. I think they look perfect on both the white and the gray.

I can hardly wait to get the marble countertops and my farmhouse sink! I should be posting again very soon.

XOXO,
